Kany Garcia is a talented singer-songwriter from Puerto Rico, signed to Sony Music Latin, who will be celebrating the release of her third album Kany Garcia on July 31, 2012. Viewers of the 2012 Premios Juventud (Univision Youth Awards) had a chance to watch an exciting live performance of the first single from the album, “Que Te Vaya Mal.” I personally felt that the quality of the broadcast audio was sub-par, so I encourage anybody who was unimpressed with what they heard to take a minute and sample today’s videos. Kany says that the songs on this album are very personal, demonstrating some of her most impacting experiences and prized values. Seeing how passionate Kany is about this project and having an immense respect for her musical talent (classically-trained, Grammy-nominated), this album looks like it could be admirable for the content of both its music and lyrics.
To help promote the new album, Kany has spent each week of July releasing an acoustic version of an album track. So far we have heard the songs “Alguien,” “Demasiado Bueno,” and my personal favorite, “Me Quedo.” The videos are quite intimate, with a black backdrop that almost creates a sense of attending a private concert. Each video begins with a short explanation (in Spanish) detailing the song’s background and contribution to the album.
