Jeyro – Mi Mundo

Jeyro is a new Latin urban artist from New York – by way of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – who has found a voice in the genre of bachata.  It is quite common to hear an R&B influence in bachata these days, and Jeyro is no exception to this trend, yet his music still contains a traditional feel that blends this new style of singing with the genre’s standard instrumentation.

Mi Mundo” (“My World”) is the title single from Jeyro’s upcoming 10-track album and is directed by Miami’s Fernando Lugo, who appears to be quickly expanding into new musical endeavors.  The video portrays a heartbroken Jeyro, full of passion and suffering from the nostalgic memories of his lost love, played by actress Christina Hammoud.  While a heartbroken lover is to bachata like a piano is to Beethoven (Fun Fact: Jeyro actually is an accomplished pianist), the unique element that instantly separates this track from the rest of the field is its reggae introduction that seamlessly melts into the lush bachata rhythms and melodies.  Take a glimpse into Jeyro’s Mundo and leave your thoughts below; the album Mi Mundo releases on July 24, 2012.
