It had to happen sooner or later: today Reggaeton and Dub Step collide in a fury of rough electronic sounds, effect-laden vocals, and a defining dembow rhythm – collectively referred to as “RaggaDub.” It is too early to tell if this song will inspire a new wave of songs blending the two genres or if it is simply a passing fad (no matter how innovative), but Orlando’s production duo of Lelo “El Androide” and Jazz, aka “Los Hitmen,” are certainly doing everything in their power to bring a new style to a genre that is often criticized for its lack of ingenuity.
The energetic duo of Jowell & Randy are an excellent fit for the vocals of the song, as Randy’s R&B defines the smooth shadowy movements, contrasted by Jowell’s rap lines that greedily soak up attention and provide a driving force for the music. This is not a song with deep lyrics, instead most notable for its unique beat and the fluorescent colors seen in the video. In the words of Jowell & Randy: Vacila con lo nuevo Esto Es RaggaDub!
